Triage Co-Chair 2025-2026

Hi everyone! My name is Daniel Kaddar, and I am a sophomore from Morgantown, WV. I am majoring in Immunology and Medical Microbiology with minors in Leadership Studies and Medical Humanities and Health Studies

My introduction to this organization was when a few officers presented to my major's freshmen class. I was interested in the opportunity and figured I would attend the info meeting. Initially, I was hesitant to apply, presuming I did not have the proper connections and experience. When the info meeting ended, I knew this chapter was different from any other organization on campus, inspiring me to apply through the leaders’ authenticity as well as Global Brigades’ sustainable approach to empowerment. It was something I aligned with and wanted to be a part of. The holistic model of GMDB has enhanced my outlook on healthcare and my perspective on pursuing a medical career. There is so much to learn from the in-country aspects of a brigade and the preparation that precedes it. Through lectures, course content, and small group meetings, I overcame concerns of being unprepared when it came time to brigade in rural Panama. Time with new peers, such as serving with a local food pantry throughout the school year, has brought me many new friends and connections. I have learned about the social determinants of health and medicine, issues often ignored and overlooked by commercialized systems of medicine. The privilege of facilitating clinics and benefiting communities through public health projects makes for a unique, unforgettable experience you cannot get through any other study abroad or course. As someone who has grown up around WVU, I feared it would hinder my ability to have new experiences during undergrad, but Brigades has prevented that entirely. If you want to make the most of your experience at WVU, applying to brigades is a step in that direction. I encourage anyone interested in applying to look deeper into Global Brigade's vision and impact. Please reach out with any questions!
