Hi! I’m Sophia Flower, and I was the Dental Brigades President. I am a 2nd year medical student at WVU School of Medicine.

I joined Global Medical and Dental Brigades during my sophomore year of undergrad. Almost immediately, I knew that Brigades was a place where I could use my strengths, along with the strengths of my classmates, to support my own community here in Morgantown and communities abroad. I was inspired by the holistic model of Global Brigades, and I believe that the experiences Brigades provides creates educated, compassionate, and well-rounded individuals. My experiences taught me the importance of public health and sociological awareness in the practice of medicine, a perspective that is too often overlooked. I am excited to once again support the holistic model of Global Brigades and encourage a new generation of young leaders to expand their perspectives and create sustainable change both abroad and in their own communities.
