Honduras Pranav

Faculty Support and Medical Doctor: Panama 2023 and Honduras 2024; Medical Brigades President 2014-2016

Hello, my name is Pranav Jain. I am a former president of the Global Medical and Dental Brigades student organization. I did both my undergraduate studies and my medical schooling at WVU (WVU SoM Class of 2020). I am currently doing my fellowship training in the field of Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

I have a variety of clinical, research, and academic interests, one of which is global health. My interest in global health, and medicine in general, was initially sparked by my involvement in this student organization during my undergraduate years. I traveled to Honduras, Panama, and Nicaragua during that time. Since graduating in 2016, for the majority of that time I have been peripherally involved in the organization. I then had the good fortune in 2023 and 2024 to travel to Panama and Honduras with WVU GMDB in the role of a physician.

The most exciting aspect of my current role with this organization is having the chance to work with the outstanding and enthusiastic students that this organization attracts. I enjoy teaching the students and even more so learning from both them and Professor Brewster. Being able to serve the people in these regions while also being able to share my own experiences with the students has truly been a privilege. I hope to continue brigading with Professor Brewster and the students of WVU GDMB for the foreseeable future.
