Triage Co-Chair 2026-2027

Hi! My name is Kaelen Armstrong, and I am a senior majoring in Biomedical Engineering from Fairmont, WV.

While late in my freshman year at WVU, I heard about Global Medical and Dental Brigades through a family friend, and my interest was piqued immediately. An opportunity to truly make a sustainable impact in underserved communities through facilitation of dental/medical clinics and infrastructural projects was extremely appealing to me. After applying, interviewing, and subsequently being accepted into the organization, I embarked on my first brigade in the Spring of 2025 and found the breadth of opportunity present to be astounding. Beyond participating in a project much greater than myself, I gained invaluable knowledge of a foreign culture, acquired a newly found sociological perspective of health and wellbeing, and learned the true meaning of ethical service. Now, having completed my second brigade and preparing for my third, I can confidently say that these profound experiences have played a large role in shaping my undergraduate years and will serve as a positive influence for the rest of my life. I would highly recommend applying to this organization, regardless of background or expertise. If you’re willing to meaningfully participate, collaborate with others, learn new things, and make new friends, you will fit in perfectly! For a more in-depth explanation of the mission and endeavors of Global Medical and Dental Brigades, both here and across the country, please visit our respective websites. Any questions you may have can be directed to me, Professor Brewster, or anyone else on the leadership team.
