Faculty Support Honduras 2024-2025; Dental Brigades President 2021-2022

My name is Joseph Schmidlen and I am in my third year at WVU School of Medicine.

My involvement in Global Brigades was sparked by my interest in rural medicine and empowering communities in resource-reduced areas. After looking through various student organizations at WVU, Global Brigades turned out to be the perfect fit for me. Listening to brigaders with experience in country motivated me to want to be a part of this excellent cause. Unfortunately, my first brigade was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although this was discouraging, I look forward to our next brigades, where we will empower community members and provide a way for sustainable health.
