Hi! My name is Brent Zutaut; I grew up in Teays Valley, West Virginia, but I have called Morgantown home for six years as I have worked through undergraduate and graduate degrees and am now in medical school here at WVU.

Certain experiences are impossible to forget, as they alter you in ways you could not and would not expect. Going on a brigade to Panama was one of those experiences for me. The work and exposure on the brigade provided perspectives of life, public health, healthcare, and community in a resource-reduced region that you can only grasp through immersion. However, the learning, understanding, and sense of humanity are ignited and challenged by leadership, personal and group reflection, and inspiration to grow into something and someone better for yourself and the world you can now understand slightly more. While cliche, it is more than just a brigade. I recommend anyone seeking a medical career or otherwise apply and become a part of something bigger than themselves through this learning and experience.
