Hi! My name is Thomas DeVecchis and I am from Weirton, WV. I am a Senior at WVU majoring in Immunology and Medical Microbiology.

The Medical and Dental Brigades at WVU are student organizations that without a doubt offer an amazing service opportunities and real-life experiences that you just cannot find every day. At this point, I have been lucky enough to have Brigades twice: once in Panama of 2023 and most recently in Honduras this past March. Traveling to a resource-reduced region of the world and seeing how healthcare and everyday life along with the many similarities and differences makes you appreciate the resources available to us. However, it also left me wanting to give more, help as much as I can, and learn more about the ways to give back. The experiences this organization allowed me to have cannot be found anywhere else, whether assisting in a medical/dental environment, digging trenches for a water project, or working together to build a sanitation station. I look forward to Brigade and cannot be more appreciative of being able to have worked alongside the best professors and students WVU has to offer. I encourage anyone to learn more about the organization and to consider applying for our upcoming Brigade during spring break.
