Medical Brigades Vice President 2023-2024; Leadership Support Team Member 2022-2023

Hi! My name is Thomas DeVecchis and I am from Weirton, WV. I am a Junior at WVU majoring in Immunology and Medical Microbiology.

The Medical and Dental Brigades at WVU are student organizations that without a doubt offer an amazing service opportunity and real life experience. In March of 2023, I had the chance to Brigade to Panama for 10 days. Those 10 days gave me a sense of just how we together can empower communities and provide service unlike any other. Traveling to a resource-reduced region of the world, and seeing how healthcare and everyday life differs but is yet so similar to life here, makes you appreciate the resources available to us. However, it also left me wanting to give more, help as much as I can, and learn more about the ways to give back. The experiences this organization allowed me to have cannot be found anywhere else. I encourage anyone to learn more about the organization and to consider applying for our upcoming Brigade.
