Hello! My name is Deshon Simon, and I am a senior pursuing a Biology major and a Business minor. I am from a small town called Williamstown, located in Wood County, West Virginia.

After speaking to members of the Global Brigades during an organization fair my freshman year, I knew that this organization was unique. However, after self-reflecting, I knew at the time that I was not ready to make the commitment of traveling abroad. Still wanting to contribute to similar efforts, I involved myself in local organizations with the goal to reduce health and economic disparities such as the Global Brigades. After participating in a clinic providing free health, dental, and eye care to local under-resourced individuals, I knew that I was ready to finally pursue the Global Brigades. I applied to the Global Bridges my junior year and was accepted into the organization; I have had the opportunity of connecting with like-minded individuals that want to see a change.
