Kylie Profile

Medical Brigades Vice President 2021-2022

My name is Kylie Parker and I am a senior majoring in Exercise Physiology from Wheeling, West Virginia.

Although I was excited to join Global Brigades to help make a sustainable effort toward health care, I had no idea how much this organization would impact my college experience. I traveled on my first brigade my freshman year to Honduras, expecting a small introduction to the medical field and hoping to solidify a career path based off my experiences in country. I found that the trip far exceeded my expectations—my passion to pursue a career in health care was boosted immensely, I made lifelong friendships, and I had the opportunity to work with some of the most formidable mentors here at WVU.
My trip to Honduras was not just a medical trip—my knowledge was expanded immensely on life and culture in Honduras, which proved to be the most rewarding part of my experience. After traveling, I was so proud of the impact that 50 students from West Virginia could make in just one week—if you’re interested in engaging in a service learning trip and seeing what impact YOU can make, I encourage you to join Global Brigades.
